No time to prepare an elaborate Italian pasta dinner? No problem! This delicious sweet sausage and pasta recipe makes a hearty meal, and goes together in less than 1 hour.

8 Ounce(oz)  ziti pasta
1 Pound(lb)  sweet italian-style sausage
1 Tablespoon(T)  olive oil
1   large yellow onion, finely chopped
1   large sweet green pepper, cored, seeded and cut into 1 inch squares
3 Cup(c)  prepared marinara sauce
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  fennel seeds
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  dried basil, crumbled
2 Cup(c)  mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 Cup(c)  parmesan cheese, grated


Cook the ziti according to package directions. Meanwhile, prick the skin of the sausage with a fork, then arrange the sausage around the sides of an ungreased 11 by 9 by 2 inch microwave safe baking dish. Cover with wax paper and microwave on high for 5 minutes. Pour off all the drippings, tum the sausage over, cover with wax paper, and microwave on high for another 3 minutes. Transfer the sausage to a cutting board and slice 1/2 inch thick. Again pour all the drippings from the baking dish. Drain the ziti well, toss with the oil, and set aside. Add the onion, pepper, 1 cup of the marinara sauce, fennel seeds and basil to the baking dish, and stir well to mix. Cover with wax paper and microwave on high for 3 minutes, stirring once midway. Mix in the ziti, sausage, remaining 2 cups marinara sauce and half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Cover with microwave safe plastic food wrap and vent by turning back one corner. Microwave on medium high for 12 minutes, giving the dish a half tum every 4 minutes. Uncover, sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, and microwave on medium high for 2 minutes. Remove from the microwave, cover with plastic wrap, an let stand for 5 minutes.
