1 | medium yellow onion, diced | ||
2 | Tablespoon(T) | chili powder | |
1 | Teaspoon(t) | salt | |
1/4 | Teaspoon(t) | cumin | |
1/4 | Teaspoon(t) | red pepper | |
1 | bay leaf | ||
3 | whole cloves |
Preparation
Brown the ground beef in a heavy saucepan or Dutch oven. Drain off the excess fat. Return to heat and add the remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer on low for at least 1 hour. Check halfway through, and add a little water if it needs it. Remove bay leaf and discard. Serve warm with diced onion, sour cream, and shredded cheddar cheese as toppings.
