Recipe Description
A rectangular dish for serving asparagus is a useful platter to have. For this recipe, I arrange all of the asparagus tips focing toward one end, pour the dressing over the spears, and place the platter right on the dinner table.

1/4 Teaspoon(t)  pepper, freshly ground
1 Tablespoon(T)  lemon juice
2 Tablespoon(T)  white wine
2 Tablespoon(T)  olive oil
1 Clove(clv)  garlic, peeled and crushed
1   shallot, peeled and crushed
1 Pound(lb)  asparagus

Preparation

Steam the asparagus until just tender, about 5 minutes. Remove the asparagus to a platter. Meanwhile, saute the shallot and garlic in the oil and wine over low heat until the alcohol evaporates and the garlic turns a golden brown, about 10 minutes. Discard the garlic and shallot. Whisk the lemon juice and pepper into the oil and wine. Pour over the steamed asparagus and serve immediately.
