Recipe Description
The more batter the bread absorbs, the longer it will take to cook the toast. To tell if the toast is cooked through, push gently with a finger. Take French toast off the griddle when it springs back to the touch, but don't wait until it feels firm with no give.

1/2 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla extract
1 Cup(c)  1% low fat milk
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  cinnamon, ground
8 Slice(sli)  homemade quality white bread
1   egg
3   egg whites


Combine all the ingredients except the bread. Preheat the griddle. If using an electric skillet, preheat it to 375° F. Place the bread in an oblong pan and pour the batter over it. Turn the slices of bread so they absorb the batter evenly. The skillet should be hot enough that a drop of water dances on the surface, but not so hot that the toast burns on contact. A non stick pan does not have to be greased. Otherwise, use non stick spray. Cook the bread in the skillet until lightly browned on one side. Turn and cook until done.
