Recipe Description
Our easy pot roast recipe is jazzed up a bit with the addition of mushrooms.

Ingredients

1/4 Pound(lb)  mushrooms, sliced
2 Tablespoon(T)  water
2   onions, sliced
2 Tablespoon(T)  bacon drippings
1 3/4 Tablespoon(T)  flour
2 Dash(ds)  salt
1 1/2 Pound(lb)  chuck or rump roast, well trimmed

Preparation

Pound the roast, sprinkle with salt and flour. Brown in hot drippings, transfer to a baking dish. Fry the onions in the drippings till golden. Add 2 tablespoons water, pour over the meat. Cover, bake in a moderate 375 degree F oven, for 2 hours. Add 1/4 pound sliced mushrooms after 1 1/2 hours baking. Add the leftover flour, bake another 10 minutes. Slice meat, place on a warmed platter. Pour the sauce over the meat. Serve with boiled potatoes or macaroni and vegetables.
