Serves Tool

Serves To:USMetric
1 Cup(c)  unbleached, all purpose white flour
1 Cup(c)  whole wheat flour
1 Teaspoon(t)  baking powder
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  salt
1/4 Cup(c)  vegetable oil, chilled
3/4 Cup(c)  cold buttermilk

Preheat the oven to 450° F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, or use a non stick pan. Sift together the dry ingredients and mix well. Make a well in the center. Pour in the oil and, using your fingers, quickly mix the two together until small clumps of dough form. Add the buttermilk, again mixing by hand until a large, rough dough ball forms. Knead the dough in the bowl with the palm of your hand, using about 15 quick strokes. Place the dough on a generously floured board and roll out to 1/2 inch thickness, then cut with a 2 inch biscuit cutter. Place the biscuits on the baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
