Recipe Description
Cajun spices and a few drops of Tobasco make this steak salad a real Louisiana-style treat. A nice serving choice for a romantic summer dinner for 2.

1 Tablespoon(T)  cajun seasoning
1/2 Ounce(oz)  sirloin steak, trimmed
1 1/2 Quart(q)  romaine lettuce, broken up
1/8   red onion, sliced paper thin
1/2 Cup(c)  romano cheese, grated
1/4 Cup(c)  caesar salad dressing
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  tabasco sauce


Sprinkle the Cajun seasoning on both sides of the steak, and put the steak in to broil as close to your broiler as you can. Assuming it's 1 inch thick, you'll want to give it about 5 minutes 30 seconds per side. I set my oven timer so I don't overcook, but cook it to your liking. While the steak is broiling, put the lettuce in your salad bowl. Spray a microwaveable plate with non stick cooking spray, and spread the Romano on it. Put it in the microwave for 1 minute on high. Stir the salad dressing and the Tabasco sauce together. Pour over the romaine, and toss. Pull out the steak, and slice it thin across the grain. Pile the lettuce on two serving plates, add the thinly sliced red onion, and top with the sliced steak. Pull the cheese out of the microwave. It will be a crisp sheet. Crumble the crisp cheese over the two salads, and serve.
