Recipe Description
This versatile dough recipe can be formed into a variety of shapes. For a real treat, bend the rolled pieces into pretzel shapes before baking.

1/4 Cup(c)  parmesan cheese, grated
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  paprika
2 Cup(c)  all purpose flour
1/2 Cup(c)  cheddar cheese, shredded
3/4 Cup(c)  milk
2 Tablespoon(T)  butter
2 Teaspoon(t)  baking powder
1 Teaspoon(t)  sugar
1 Teaspoon(t)  salt
1   egg, beaten


Mix Parmesan cheese and paprika, then reserve. Mix remaining ingredients except egg until dough leaves side of bowl. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Gently roll in flour to coat. Knead lightly 20 to 25 times. Cover and let stand 15 minutes. Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease 2 cookie sheets. Divide dough in half. Cover and reserve one half of dough. Roll other half of dough into rectangle, 10 by 8 inches. Brush with half of the egg. Sprinkle with half of the cheese mixture. Press cheese mixture lightly into dough. Cut rectangle lengthwise into 12 strips. Gently twist each strip several times. Place on one of the cookie sheets. Bake 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack. Repeat with remaining dough, egg and cheese mixture.
