Recipe Description
Since strawberries vary widely in sweetness, you may want to start by using only 2 tablespoons of sugar, then add more to taste.

Ingredients

3 Cup(c)  strawberries, hulled
1 Cup(c)  cranberry juice cocktail
2 Tablespoon(T)  sugar
2 Tablespoon(T)  port wine
1/8 Teaspoon(t)  nutmeg, ground (optional)
1/2 Cup(c)  unflavored yogurt

Preparation

Place the strawberries, cranberry juice, sugar, port and nutmeg in a 1 1/2 quart saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Simmer, uncovered for 5 minutes. Place in a blender or food processor container fitted with a steel blade. Cover and process until smooth. Chill for 2 hours or more. When ready to serve, stir in the yogurt.

Additional notes

Variation: To create a vegan sauce, omit the yogurt or use a non dairy version.
