Here is a new way to serve chocolate cake. My kids have always loved the taste of this cake, but rolling it takes it to a new, fun level.

1 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla
1 Tablespoon(T)  butter
1 Cup(c)  cold water
2 Tablespoon(T)  cornstarch
2 Tablespoon(T)  cocoa
2 Tablespoon(T)  confectioner's sugar
1 Teaspoon(t)  baking powder
1 Cup(c)  flour
1/3 Cup(c)  water
1 3/4 Cup(c)  sugar
3   eggs, separated


Beat 3 egg yolks, 1 cup sugar, and water together until light. Slowly beat in flour and baking powder. Beat 3 egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold flour and egg mixture carefully into beaten whites. Pour into greased and floured jelly roll pan. Bake at 425 degrees F for 8 minutes. Loosen hot cake from sides of pan and invert on a cotton towel dusted with confectioner's sugar. While cake is still hot, roll up in the towel for a few minutes, then unroll. Stir cocoa, conrstarch, sugar, and water together in a saucepan. Heat until mxiture comes to a boil. Remove from heat. Stir in butter and vanilla. Cool, then spread on cake. Roll cake, slice in 1/4 inch slices, and serve. Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar, if desired, before serving.
