Recipe Description
This colorful batter bakes into a great red velvet cake or cupcakes. Fun for the holidays, given the cheerful coloring.

2 Ounce(oz)  red food coloring
2 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla extract
8 Ounce(oz)  sour cream
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  baking soda
3 Tablespoon(T)  unsweetened cocoa
3 Cup(c)  all purpose flour
6   large eggs
2 1/2 Cup(c)  sugar
1 Cup(c)  butter, softened


Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating just until blended after each addition. Stir together flour, cocoa and baking soda. Add to butter mixture alternately with sour cream, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Beat at low speed until blended after each addition. Stir in vanilla and red food coloring. Use batter immediately.
