13 Ounce(oz)  bran flakes
1 Tablespoon(T)  cinnamon, ground
2 Tablespoon(T)  light brown sugar, packed
2 Tablespoon(T)  butter, melted
2 1/2 Cup(c)  biscuit mix, plus extra as needed
2 Tablespoon(T)  granulated sugar
1/2 Cup(c)  dark raisins
1/3 Cup(c)  buttermilk
1/2 Cup(c)  tonic water
1 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla extract
2 Tablespoon(T)  butter, melted
1 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla extract
2 Tablespoon(T)  sour cream
1 Pinch(pn)  salt
1 1/2 Cup(c)  confectioners' sugar

Preheat the oven to 400° F. Grease two 8 inch round cake pans. To make the "flake" mixture, empty the box of cereal into a blender. Add the cinnamon and brown sugar and pulse on high speed for about 3 seconds, until the mixture is crumbled but not powdered. Empty into a small bowl. Stir in the melted butter with a fork. Set aside. To make the biscuit dough, using a 2 quart mixing bowl, stir the biscuit mix together with the granulated sugar and raisins. Pour the buttermilk, tonic water and vanilla into the biscuit mixture. Use a fork to mix until all of the liquid is absorbed, then knead in the bowl with your hands, adding enough biscuit mix to make the dough smooth and prevent it from sticking to the sides of the bowl. Break the dough into 5 portions in the bowl. Sprinkle the "flake" mixture over the dough and then work it in until most of it is evenly distributed throughout the dough. Divide the dough into 12 equal parts and shape each portion into a 1/2 inch thick patty. Arrange the patties close together in the prepared cake pans. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden. While the biscuits are baking, make the icing. In a small bowl with an electric mixer on high speed, beat the melted butter, vanilla, sour cream, salt and confectioners' sugar until smooth. When the biscuits are done, remove the pans to a wire rack and coat the tops of the biscuits with the icing.
