Serves To:USMetric
1 1/4 Cup(c)  water
5 Tablespoon(T)  saltine cracker crumbs, finely ground
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  msg
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  cayenne pepper
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  garlic salt
3/4 Teaspoon(t)  seasoned salt
1 Teaspoon(t)  onion powder
1 Teaspoon(t)  garlic powder
5 Teaspoon(t)  chili powder
1 Tablespoon(T)  paprika
32 Ounce(oz)  whole tomatoes, with juice
1 1/4 Cup(c)  water
21 Ounce(oz)  beef broth
4 Tablespoon(T)  vegetable oil
2 1/2 Pound(lb)  beef chuck, tenderized and diced finely

In a 4 quart saucepan, lightly brown the diced beef chuck in the vegetable oil, stirring frequently. Add the beef broth and water. Simmer the beef mixture for 1 hour on medium low heat. While the meat is simmering, puree the tomatoes with their juices in a food processor. Strain the seeds and pulp and measure out 2 cups. After the beef has been simmering for 1 hour, add the tomatoes, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, seasoned salt, garlic salt, cayenne pepper and MSG to the meat and stir well. Simmer for 45 to 50 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally. While the chili is simmering, prepare the thickening agent by combining the saltine crumbs and water. Add enough of the water to make a medium thick, smooth mixture. You may not use all the water. After the chili has simmered, slowly pour enough of the thickening sauce in to make the chili thick, stirring constantly. You may not need all of the thickener. Simmer on low heat and stir until the chili reaches the desired consistency and is ready to be served.

Additional notes

Tip: Use enough water with dry ingredients to mix into a medium thick, smooth sauce.
