These rolls were always a holiday treat when I was growing up. I love that my mom always took the time to bake fresh bread for all of us.

Ingredients

2 Package(pk)  active dry yeast
1/2 Cup(c)  warm water
1 3/4 Cup(c)  skim milk, lukewarm
1/4 Cup(c)  margarine, melted
1/4 Cup(c)  sugar
1/2 Tablespoon(T)  salt
6 Cup(c)  unbleached or all purpose flour, divided

Preparation

In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Add the milk, margarine, sugar, salt and 4 cups flour. If you have a dough hook, use it. If not, mix and knead the dough by hand. Add 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until the dough clings to the hook and cleans the sides of the bowl. When the dough is smooth and elastic, place in a large lightly oiled bowl and cover with a cloth. Let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. Press your finger into the dough, if indentation remains, the dough is ready. Punch down the dough and let it rise again until almost doubled, about 30 minutes. Spray a baking sheet with vegetable spray. Shape into rolls and place on the prepared baking sheet. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 25 minutes. Preheat the oven to 400° F. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
