Dutch Coffee Fruit Cake

Recipe Description
This is an easy fruit cake recipe without all the candied fruits. Don't wait until the holidays to try it!

1/2 Pound(lb)  butter
2 Cup(c)  brown sugar
2 Tablespoon(T)  molasses
1 Teaspoon(t)  nutmeg, grated
3 Cup(c)  currants
1 Teaspoon(t)  baking powder
1 Teaspoon(t)  allspice
1   egg
1 Teaspoon(t)  cinnamon
1/2 Pint(pt)  warm coffee
2 Cup(c)  flour, sifted


Cream the butter, add the sugar. Dissolve the baking powder in the molasses, add to mixture, then mix in the allspice, the beaten egg, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add coffee to the mixture and mix in flour to make batter. Add the currants which have been floured. Pour into greased pans and bake 2 1/2 or 3 hours in moderate oven.
