6 Ounce(oz)  uncooked elbow macaroni
1/4 Cup(c)  margarine
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  salt
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  pepper
1/4 Cup(c)  onion, chopped
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  all purpose flour
1 3/4   milk
8 Ounce(oz)  process american loaf, cut into 1/2 inch cubes


Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Cook macaroni as directed on package. Drain. Cook and stir margarine, salt, pepper and onion in 2 quart saucepan over medium heat until onion is slightly tender. Stir in flour. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat. Stir in milk. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Remove from heat. Stir in cheese until melted. Mix macaroni and cheese sauce in ungreased 1/2 quart casserole. Bake uncovered 30 minutes.
