Recipe Description
The mixture of long grain and wild rices, toasted nuts and dried fruits are pleasing to the eyes and palates.  An excellent side side for the wintertime holidays.

Ingredients

1/4   pecans, chopped
1   margarine
1   medium onion, chopped
12 Ounce(oz)  long grain and wild rice pilaf mix
2 Cup(c)  water
1/2 Cup(c)  dried raisins or cranberries
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  cinnamon

Preparation

In medium saucepan, add pecans and cook over medium heat, 5 to 6 minutes or until nuts are light golden brown and fragrant, stirring frequently.  Remove from pan and set aside.  In same saucepan, melt margarine over medium heat.  Add onions and cook 3 minutes, stirring frequently.  Add rice pilaf mix and cook 30 seconds, stirring occasionally.  Add water, contents of spice sack and cinnamon.  Add dried raisins or cranberries.  Bring to a boil.  Cover, reduce heat to low and simmer 30 minutes, or until most of liquid is absorbed.  Stir in nuts and serve.
