Recipe Description
As it bakes, this pudding cake separates into a moist, rich cake layer and a fudgy sauce. Serve the cake warm with whipped cream or ice cream.

Ingredients

2 3/4 Cup(c)  all purpose flour
3 1/4 Cup(c)  sugar
4 Tablespoon(T)  unsweetened cocoa
5 1/2 Teaspoon(t)  baking powder
1 Pinch(pn)  salt
1/2 Cup(c)  milk
2 Tablespoon(T)  margarine, melted
1 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla
1 Pinch(pn)  salt
3 2/3 Cup(c)  water, heated to 115 to 120 degrees f.

Preparation

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. In small bowl, combine flour, 3/4 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Mix well. Stir in milk, margarine and vanilla. Blend well. Spread batter in ungreased 9 inch round or square pan. In small bowl, combine 1 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa and a pinch of salt. Mix well. Sprinkle evenly over cake batter. Pour hot water over sugar mixture. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 to 45 minutes, or until center is set and firm to the touch. Serve warm.
