Recipe Description
This slow cooked favorite was served at nearly every holiday gathering when I was growing up.  You can toss these into a slow cooker, or cook them on the stove top.

1   small ham hock
14 Ounce(oz)  cut green beans


In medium sized saucepan, place the green beans and ham hock.  Cover with a lid and bring to a boil.  Lower the heat and simmer for at least 60 minutes.  Turn off the heat.  Remove the ham hock and allow it to cool until you can handle it (or just work carefully).  Remove the lean pieces of meat from the ham hock and return it to the beans.  Heat through and serve.

Additional notes

Note:  If using a Crock Pot, cook on high for 4 to 5 hours, or low for 8 to 10 hours.
