Ingredients

4 Clove(clv)  garlic
1   large size yellow onion, roughly chopped
1 Cup(c)  soy sauce or tamari
3   dried jalapeno peppers, with seeds
1/4 Cup(c)  apple cider vinegar
1 Teaspoon(t)  ground cumin
1   freshly cracked pepper, to taste
8 Ounce(oz)  plain soy tempeh, cut into 4 equal pieces

Preparation

Combine the garlic, onion, soy sauce, jalapeno peppers, vinegar, cumin, and pepper in a food processor and process until well incorporated but still chunky.

Place the tempeh in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over the tempeh. Let marinate for a few hours.

Remove the tempeh from the marinade, reserving any leftover marinade.

If grilling on a barbecue, choose an area with a medium-high flame. Place the tempeh on the grill. cook for 5 to 7 minutes, then turn and cook for 5 to 7 minutes longer. Serve with the reserved marinade.

To bake in the oven, preheat the oven to 450°F Place the tempeh and any reserved marinade in an ovenproof baking dish and bake, uncovered, for 10 to 12 minutes.
