1 Cup(c)  margarine, at room tempetature
2 Cup(c)  brown sugar, firmly packed
3   egg whites, slightly beaten
1/2 Cup(c)  sour skim milk
3 1/2 Cup(c)  unbleached or all purpose flour
1 Teaspoon(t)  baking soda
2 Cup(c)  candied fruit, chopped
2 Cup(c)  dates, chopped


Preheat the oven to 400°F. Lightly spray a cookie sheet with vegetable spray. In a large mixing bowl, beat the margarine, sugar and egg whites. Stir in the sour milk. Gradually add the flour and baking soda. Mix well. Fold in the fruit. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until set. Cool on wire racks.
