Recipe Description
My freind Julie had this recipe handed down to ther from her Grandmother. Now whether she was bohemian or not, I don't know. What I do know, is that these cookies are great!

Serves Tool

Serves To:USMetric
1/2 Pound(lb)  unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 1/4 Cup(c)  confectioners' sugar
1 Teaspoon(t)  pure vanilla extract
1/8 Teaspoon(t)  salt
1 1/4 Cup(c)  all purpose flour
6 Ounce(oz)  milk or semisweet chocolate, ground in a food processor

Preheat the oven to 250°F. Line several baking sheets with parchment paper. Cream the butter, confectioners' sugar and vanilla with an electric mixer on medium speed, scraping the bowl several times, until smooth and creamy, about 1 minute. Stir the salt into the flour. Reduce the speed to low and blend in the flour mixture just until incorporated. Stir in the ground chocolate. Drop the dough by the teaspoonful, 1 1/2 inches apart, onto the baking sheets. Bake two sheets at a time on the bottom third and top third oven racks, rotating the sheets from top to bottom and front to back halfway through, for 40 minutes. These cookies do not brown, so very carefully (when warm these cookies are especially fragile) lift a few with a spatula and inspect the bottoms. If you see a raw spot in the middle, continue baking for another 5 minutes, or until fully baked. Let the cookies cool completely on the baking sheets set on wire racks. Repeat with the remaining dough.
