Recipe Description
This cupcake recipe has never let me down. Ice, frost and decorate these anyway you like. They are a sure fire hit!

Ingredients

1/2 Cup(c)  hot water
1 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla
1 Cup(c)  sugar
1 Teaspoon(t)  baking soda
1/2 Cup(c)  sour milk
1 1/2 Cup(c)  flour
1/2 Cup(c)  shortening
1/2 Cup(c)  cocoa
1   egg

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350° F. Place egg, cocoa, shortening, flour, sour milk, baking soda, sugar, vanilla and hot water in a bowl in that order. Attach bowl and flat beater. Set mixer to stir position for 30 seconds, or until all ingredients are just combined. Stop and scrape bowl. Tum to speed 2 and mix for an additional 2 minutes. Line cupcake pan with cupcake papers. Fill with a scant 1/4 cup batter. Bake in a 350° F oven for 20 minutes.
