3/4 Pound(lb)  linguine, dried
1 Teaspoon(t)  olive oil
1 Clove(clv)  garlic, minced
14 1/2 Ounce(oz)  whole tomatoes, with juice
1/2 Cup(c)  tomato juice
2 Tablespoon(T)  tomato paste
1/4 Cup(c)  white wine
1 Tablespoon(T)  lemon juice
1 Teaspoon(t)  kosher salt
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  pepper, freshly ground
3 Tablespoon(T)  fresh parsley, chopped
1 Teaspoon(t)  oregano, dried
1 Teaspoon(t)  basil, dried
10 Ounce(oz)  baby clams

For this recipe, it is best if the pasta and the sauce are ready at the same time. To get the timing right, set a large pot of water to boil and begin cooking the pasta after you start simmering the sauce. In a medium saucepan, heat the oil and then cook the garlic over moderate heat until it turns golden, about 2 minutes. Drain the juice from the tomatoes into the pot. Squeeze the seeds out of the tomatoes. This is easily done over a sink in a colander. The idea is to get rid of most of the unsightly seeds and watery juice. Then break up the tomatoes with your hands as you add them to the pot. Stir in the tomato juice, tomato paste, wine, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Simmer for 7 minutes. Stir in the herbs and clams and simmer for another 5 minutes, until the pasta is ready. Once the pasta is ready, drain it in a colander, put it in a large bowl, pour the clam sauce over the pasta, toss, and serve immediately.
