Nothing beats hot chocolate on ice cream! Add mint, and it takes the chocolate to a new level.

12 Ounce(oz)  evaporated milk
8 Ounce(oz)  hard peppermint candies, crushed
4   unsweetened chocolate squares
1/2 Cup(c)  butter
1/2 Cup(c)  sugar
1/8 Teaspoon(t)  salt


Microwave evaporated milk in a microwave-safe bowl on high for 2 minutes, or until hot. Stir in crushed hard peppermint candies, stirring constantly until candies dissolve. Melt unsweetened chocolate squares and butter in a large heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly. Gradually stir in evaporated milk mixture. Gradually whisk in sugar. Cook, whisking constantly, over low heat 3 minutes, or until smooth. Remove from heat, and whisk in salt.

Additional notes

Tip: To crush the candies, unwrap them, place in a large zip-top plastic bag, and seal.
Bash the candies with a rolling pin until coarse.
