Recipe Description
I love these cookies, maybe because they're the only cookies Mommy ever baked. She is a sensational cook, but never a baker. She left that to my grandmother, who was a great baker. (It goes without saying that mom never used whole wheat flour in her version!)

Ingredients

6   hard cooked egg yolks
1 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla
1 Teaspoon(t)  sugar
1 Cup(c)  butter, softened
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  salt
3/4 Cup(c)  whole wheat flour
1 1/2 Cup(c)  all purpose flour

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Put the yolks through a fine sieve and set aside. In a medium bowl or on waxed paper, stir together both flours and the salt. In a large bowl, cream the butter with the sugar. Beat in the sieved egg yolks, then the vanilla. Beat in the flour. Place dough in a cookie press and press into desired shapes on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
