This new fashioned macaroni dish is made with fat free or low fat ingredients. It remains a kid favorite, but a little more adult-friendly!

5 1/2 Cup(c)  fat free milk
5 1/2 Tablespoon(T)  all purpose flour
5 1/2 Tablespoon(T)  low fat margarine
3/4 Cup(c)  low fat american cheese, grated
2 Cup(c)  macaroni, cooked
1 Pinch(pn)  pepper
1/4 Cup(c)  fat free cheese cracker crumbs
1 Pinch(pn)  paprika


Preheat oven to 375° F. To make the white sauce: Combine the milk, flour, and margarine in a saucepan over low heat. Add the grated cheese, stirring constantly. Cook until the cheese has melted and the sauce boils. Remove from heat. Alternate layers of macaroni and cheese sauce in a baking dish coated with nonstick spray. Cover the top with cheese cracker crumbs. Sprinkle with pepper and paprika for taste. Bake until the mixture bubbles and the crumbs turn brown.
