Recipe Description
This easy holiday soup can be prepared with either pumpkin or squash.  Both lend great flavor to the holiday table.

Ingredients

1 Pinch(pn)  salt, to taste
1 Cup(c)  whipping cream
1 Tablespoon(T)  flour
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  celery seed
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  ginger
3   whole cloves
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  pepper
1 Teaspoon(t)  salt
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  sugar
5 1/2 Quart(q)  seasoned meat broth
1 Pint(pt)  cooked pumpkin, diced
1   onion, minced
2 Tablespoon(T)  butter

Preparation

Melt butter, cook onion in it and add diced pumpkin.  Stir carefully to keep cubes unbroken.  Meanwhile, heat broth with seasonings to boiling.  Add vegetables.  Thicken slightly with flour rubbed with a little water.  Serve hot with a dab of slightly salted whipped cream on each serving.
