1/3 | Cup(c) | shortening | |
3/4 | Cup(c) | milk | |
1 | Tablespoon(T) | margarine, softened | |
1/4 | Cup(c) | brown sugar, packed | |
1/2 | Cup(c) | almonds, slivered | |
4 | Cup(c) | peaches, sweetened, sliced and peeled | |
2 | Cup(c) | whipped cream |
Preparation
Heat oven to 450 degrees F. Grease round pan, 9 by 11 1/2 inches. Mix flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, the baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening. Stir in milk. Spread in pan and brush with margarine. Sprinkle with brown sugar and almonds. Bake until golden brown, about 20 minutes. Remove from pan and let cool slightly. Split shortcake to make 2 layers. Fill layers with half of the almonds mixed with whipped cream and peaches. Top each serving with remaining whipped cream and peaches.
