Applesauce replaces some of the butter in this delicious cake, with a built in streusel topping.

1/2 Cup(c)  butter, softened
1 Cup(c)  peanut butter
5 1/2 Cup(c)  brown sugar
1/2 Cup(c)  sugar
2 Cup(c)  flour
1/2 Cup(c)  applesauce
3   eggs
1 Teaspoon(t)  baking powder
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  baking soda
1 1/2 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla
2 Cup(c)  semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 Cup(c)  peanuts, chopped


Preheat oven to 350° F. Spray a 9 by 13 inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray containing flour and set aside. In large bowl, combine butter, peanut butter, brown sugar, sugar and flour and mix until crumbly. Reserve 1 cup of this crumbly mixture and place in med ium bowl. To crumbs remaining in large bowl, add applesauce, eggs, baking powder, baking soda and vanilla. Stir until combined, then beat for 3 minutes at medium speed. Pour batter into prepared pan. Add chocolate chips and peanuts to crumbs reserved in medium bowl and mix well. Sprinkle
over batter. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until cake begins to pull away from edges of pan and springs back when touched lightly in center Cool completely. Store covered at room temperature.
