Recipe Description
I made these cookies for my ''park'' friends (the people I meet every morning when I walk my dog), so it was only fitting that I used a cookie cutter in the shape of a dog bone. Because of the brown, textured look, they really did resemble dog biscuits!

Ingredients

1 1/2 Cup(c)  pecans, finely ground
1 Cup(c)  all purpose flour
3/4 Cup(c)  whole wheat flour
1/2 Cup(c)  honey toasted wheat germ
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  salt
3/4 Cup(c)  butter, softened
1 Cup(c)  sugar
1   egg
1 Teaspoon(t)  water

Preparation

In a medium bowl or on a piece of waxed paper, stir together the pecans, both flours, the wheat germ and salt. In a large bowl, cream the butter. Add the sugar and beat until combined. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Using a spoon, mix in the pecan flour mixture. Form into a ball and wrap in waxed paper. Chill 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350° F. Using a lightly floured rolling pin on a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough (1/2 at a time) until 1/4 inch thick. Cut into cookies with cookie cutters of desired shape. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 12 minutes, or until lightly browned.
