Recipe Description
Fresh plums are best in this recipe, but if they are out of season, using 1 Tablespoon of plum preserves in each dumpling will still make a tasty treat.  These are wonderful for kids during the Christmas holiday.  An updated version of a sugar plum!

1/3 Cup(c)  confectioners' sugar
1 1/2 Tablespoon(T)  butter, melted
1 1/2 Tablespoon(T)  bread crumbs
15   small prume plums
1 Pinch(pn)  salt
1   egg
1 Cup(c)  flour
2 Cup(c)  potatoes, boiled, peeled and ground


Mix all the ingredients and knead the dough.  Form circles about 2 inches in diameter.  To make stuffing:  Wash and dry the plums.  Place a plum in the center of a circle and fold over.  Seal the edges and smooth, rolling in your palms.  Cook in a large kettle with salted boiling water until they float to the surface.  Transfer to a warmed platter.  To make topping:  Add the bread crumbs to the butter, fry for 1 minute, pour over the dumplings.  Sprinkle with sugar.
