Recipe Description
I think there are plenty of poppy seeds in these, but you may want to add an extra tablespoon. You can shape the dough into logs, then freeze the dough for later use.

Serves Tool

Serves To:USMetric
1 1/2 Cup(c)  all purpose flour
1 Cup(c)  whole wheat flour
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  salt
3 Tablespoon(T)  poppy seeds
1 Cup(c)  butter, softened
1 Cup(c)  sugar
2   egg yolks
1   egg
1 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla extract

In a medium bowl or on a piece of waxed paper, stir together both flours and the salt. Stir in the poppy seeds. In a large bowl, cream the butter with the sugar. Beat in the yolks, egg and vanilla. Beat in the flour and poppy seed mixture. Divide dough into thirds and form each into an 8 inch log. Roll each log in waxed paper and chill until firm, about 2 hours. Preheat the oven to 325° F. Slice the cookies into 1/4 inch thick rounds. Bake 15 to 18 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are lightly browned. Cool on racks.
