Recipe Description
Not surprisingly, oatmeal, another staple ingredient, is sometimes added to potato cakes. The result is generally known as Pratie Oaten, Pratai, being the Irish word for potato. Eat these hot with plenty of butter, and serve a few crispy slices of bacon.

Ingredients

1 Pinch(pn)  salt
3/4 Cup(c)  fine oatmeal
4 Tablespoon(T)  butter
1 Pound(lb)  cooked potatoes

Preparation

Mash the potatoes with the butter. Mix in the oatmeal and season with salt. Roll out into a round and cut into patties. Bake on a hot griddle for about 3 or 4 minutes on each side. Alternatively, cook in an iron pan in bacon fat.
