Quaker Biscuits

Recipe Description
Start these biscuits early in the morning to allow them proper time to rise. They turn out light and yeasty.

Ingredients

3   eggs, separated
6 Cup(c)  flour
1 Pint(pt)  milk
3/4 Cup(c)  lard and butter mixed
1   yeast cake

Preparation

Prepare a dough sponge of the above ingredients and set about 2 hours to rise. Roll out thinly, cut into round biscuits, brush each with melted butter. Pile in stacks of two, one on top of another, let rise another hour. Then brush tops with yolk of an egg mixed with milk. Bake in a moderate 350 degree F oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden.
