Scones With Spiced Sugar Nut Topping

2 Cup(c)  all purpose flour
1 Tablespoon(T)  baking powder
3 Tablespoon(T)  sugar
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  salt
6 Tablespoon(T)  butter, cut into small pieces
1   large egg
1/2 Cup(c)  half and half
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  cinnamon, ground
3 Tablespoon(T)  brown sugar, packed
1 Dash(ds)  nutmeg, ground
3 Tablespoon(T)  pecans, chopped


Preheat oven to 425° F. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Add butter and cut into flour mixture with a pastry blender or 2 knives until crumbs form. In a small bowl, whisk together egg and half and half. Add to flour mixture and stir with a fork until ingredients are moistened and hold together. Gather into a ball and transfer to a lightly floured surface. Knead several times. Pat into an 8 inch round. Sprinkle with topping. Cut into 8 equal wedges with a sharp knife. Place wedges slightly apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake until golden brown, about 12 minutes.
