Serves Tool

Serves To:USMetric
2 Teaspoon(t)  cream of tartar
2 Teaspoon(t)  granulated sugar
1 Teaspoon(t)  baking soda
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  salt
1/2 Cup(c)  water
1/2 Cup(c)  shortening, cubed
1/2 Cup(c)  plain yogurt
2 Tablespoon(T)  sesame seeds
2 Cup(c)  all purpose flour

In a large bowl, stir together flour, cream of tartar, sugar, baking soda and salt. Using a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Using a fork, stir water and yogurt into dry ingredients just until moistened. Turn out onto a lightly floured piece of waxed paper and pat into a circle about 1 inch thick. Using cookie cutter, cut dough into 9 biscuits. Arrange on prepared baking sheet. Brush lightly with water and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake in preheated 350 degree F oven for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown on bottom. Serve immediately.
