Recipe Description
This flavorful casserole recipe came from my days in Boston when the children were very small and they loved eating this dish.  Now I make it for the grandchildren for Shabbat, and they love it too!

4 Tablespoon(T)  butter
1 Cup(c)  soup barley
6 Ounce(oz)  mushrooms, drained and sliced
1   medium onion, chopped
2 Cup(c)  bouillon, boiling
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  salt


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Melt butter or margarine in a heavy pan.  Add barley, mushrooms and onion and start to brown.  Add bouillon and salt.  Cook until barley is brown and has a nutty flavor.  Place in a greased casserole, cover and bake 50 to 60 minutes.
