Everyone has had a Swedish Meatball. These meatballs offer a solid recipe that can be a basis for any sauce that you choose to put on. They are great alone served with toothbicks or for dinner oer noodles.

1/2 Cup(c)  beef broth
2 Tablespoon(T)  shortening
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  nutmeg
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  allspice
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  white pepper
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  black pepper
1 1/2 Teaspoon(t)  salt
1   egg, lightly beaten
2 Tablespoon(T)  butter
1/4 Cup(c)  onion, minced
1 Cup(c)  half and half
1 Cup(c)  dry bread crumbs
1/2 Pound(lb)  ground pork
1 Pound(lb)  ground beef


Have the butcher grind the beef and pork together twice or very fine.

Soak bread crumbs in half and half.

Fry onion in butter until golden.

Combine all mixtures with egg and add seasonings.

Form into 1" balls.

In hot shortening, fry meatballs, a few at a time, until brown.

Shake pan often to keep round.

Place in casserole.

Add beef broth and cover.

Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
