Recipe Description
This is a very easy recipe that can be made quickly from cupboard ingredients. It is an ideal after work supper.

9 Ounce(oz)  meat filled tortellini
1/4   large onion, finely chopped
4 Ounce(oz)  cooked ham, diced
1/2 Cup(c)  double (heavy) cream
1 Cup(c)  grano padano cheese, freshly grated
2 Tablespoon(T)  olive oil
2/3 Cup(c)  passata (strained tomatoes)
1 Pinch(pn)  salt, to taste
1 Pinch(pn)  black pepper, ground, to taste


Cook the pasta according to the instructions on the packet. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large pan, add the onion and cook over a low heat, stirring frequently, for about 5 minutes until softened. Add the ham and cook, stirring occasionally, until it darkens. Add the passata to the pan. Stir well, then add salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil, lower the heat and simmer the sauce for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, until it has reduced slightly. Stir in the cream. Drain the pasta well add it to the sauce. Add a handful of grated grano padano to the pan. Stir to combine well and taste for seasoning. Serve in warmed bowls, topped with the remaining grano padano.
