Recipe Description
Hummus is the quintessential vegan dip. Tasty, tangy, creamy, full of heart healthy fats and protein and oh so delicious! This is a traditional, plain hummus recipe, so feel free to add a little something to it to kick it up a notch. Garlic, cayenne pepper, chopped olives, even balsamic vinegar will bring it into a whole new dimension.

Ingredients

2 Pinch(pn)  salt, to taste
2 Tablespoon(T)  lemon juice
1/2 Cup(c)  extra virgin olive oil
1/2 Cup(c)  tahini, roasted or raw
24 Ounce(oz)  garbanzo beans, with their liquid

Preparation

In a pot, add the beans with their liquid, tahini and olive oil. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes. Use an immersion blender, or carefully transfer the mixture to a counter top blender, and puree until smooth. Stir in the lemon juice and add salt to taste. Serve warm, or refrigerate in an airtight container until ready to serve.
