An updated variation on America's beloved chocolate chip cookies, these golden treats contain vanilla chips and macadamia nuts.

3/4 Cup(c)  brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 Cup(c)  sugar
1/2 Cup(c)  margarine, softened
1/2 Cup(c)  shortening
2 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla
1   egg
3 1/4 Cup(c)  all purpose flour
1 Teaspoon(t)  baking soda
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  salt
3 2/3 Cup(c)  white vanilla chips, coarsely chopped
3 1/2 Ounce(oz)  macadamia nuts, coarsely chopped


Heat oven to 375° F. In large bowl, combine brown sugar, sugar, margarine and shortening. Beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and egg and blend well. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt. Mix well. Stir in vanilla chips and macadamia nuts. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls 3 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375° F for 8 to 10 minutes, or until light golden brown. Cool 1 minute, then remove from cookie sheets.
