Recipe Description
Pasta comes in so many styles. It's perfectly acceptable to veer from the traditional elbow macaroni. Experiment with other fun shapes your child may like.

Ingredients

1/8 Teaspoon(t)  dry mustard
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  pepper
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  salt
1 1/2 Cup(c)  sharp cheddar cheese, grated
3 Cup(c)  2% milk
6 Tablespoon(T)  all purpose flour
6 Tablespoon(T)  butter
1/2 Pound(lb)  whole wheat elbow macaroni
10 Cup(c)  water

Preparation

In a large pot, boil the 10 cups water. Add whole wheat elbow macaroni and cook until tender. Drain and rinse well under cold running water. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add flour and continue stirring until the mixture thickens. Add milk and continue to stir until this thickens up. Remove from heat and add cheddar cheese, salt, pepper and dry mustard. If needed, return to low heat and stir to melt cheese. Add cooked elbow macaroni and mix well. Serve.
