A great dessert for the autumn months when apples are abundant and at the peak of their season.

Ingredients

2 Tablespoon(T)  all purpose flour
2 Tablespoon(T)  fresh lemon juice
6 Tablespoon(T)  butter
1/3 Cup(c)  all purpose flour
3/4 Cup(c)  dark brown sugar, packed
2 3/4 Pound(lb)  baking apples
1/4 Teaspoon(t)  cinnamon, ground
1/2 Cup(c)  old fashioned or quick cooking oats, uncooked

Preparation

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.  In 1 1/2 quart baking dish, combine apples, lemon juice, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 2 tablespoons flour, tossing to coat.  In small bowl, stir oats, remaining 1/3 cup flour, and remaining 1/4 cup brown sugar until blended.  With pastry blender or two knives used scissor fashion, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.  Sprinkle over apple mixture.  Bake, uncovered, until apples are tender and topping has lightly browned, 30 to 35 mintues.  Cool slightly on wire rack to serve warm.

Additional notes

Also good in individual serving cups.
