1 Cup(c)  dates, chopped
1 Cup(c)  boiling water
1 Teaspoon(t)  baking soda
1 Cup(c)  sugar
1   egg, beaten
3 Tablespoon(T)  butter, melted
1 Cup(c)  flour
1 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla
1/2 Cup(c)  nuts, chopped
3 Cup(c)  sweetened whipped cream
3   bananas, sliced


Combine dates, water, and soda. Mix well and let cool.

Add remaining ingredients except cream and bananas and mix well.

Pour batter into a greased, waxed paper lined 9" x 13" pan. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes.

Allow cake to cool. To serve, crumble cake slightly. Fold with whipped cream and sliced bananas.
