Serves Tool

Serves To:USMetric
1/2 Cup(c)  rolled oats
1/3 Cup(c)  superfine granulated sugar
3/4 Cup(c)  flour
4 Tablespoon(T)  butter
2 Tablespoon(T)  water
1/4 Cup(c)  sugar
1 1/2 Pound(lb)  apples, peeled, cored and chopped

Preparation

Stew the apples gently with the sugar and water in a covered casserole or stainless steel saucepan for 5 to 10 minutes, until about half cooked. Taste and add more sugar if necessary. Turn into a 5 cup pie dish. Allow to cool slightly while you make the crumble. Rub the butter into the flour just until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs, then mix in the sugar and oats. Sprinkle this mixture over the apple in the pie dish. Bake in a preheated moderate oven at 350°F, for 30 to 45 minutes or until the topping is cooked and golden.
