2 Cup(c)  unbleached or all purpose flour
1 Teaspoon(t)  baking soda
1 Teaspoon(t)  cinnamon, ground
1 Teaspoon(t)  nutmeg, ground
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  cloves, ground
1/2 Cup(c)  margarine, room temperature
1/2 Cup(c)  brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 Cup(c)  granulated sugar
2   egg whites, slightly beaten
1 Cup(c)  unsweetened applesauce
1 Cup(c)  raisins
1 Cup(c)  powdered sugar, sifted
2 Tablespoon(T)  warm skim milk
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla extract

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease and flour a 13 by 9 inch baking pan. Sift the flour, baking soda, and spices into a medium sized bowl and set aside. In a large mixing bowl, beat the margarine, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy. Stir in the egg whites and applesauce. Gradually add to the flour mixture, beating well after each addition. Fold in the raisins. Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a wooden pick comes out clean. Let cool until slightly warm. To prepare icing: In a medium sized bowl, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Drizzle over the warm cake. Cool completely before cutting into bars.
