Beef Satay With Peanut Sauce

Satay is always a party favorite, but it becomes far more memorable when you have a knockout sauce to serve it with.  While traditional, this peanut sauce is packed with sweet and tangy flavor, making it the perfect, and unforgettable dipping partner.

1/2   small onion, grated
8 Tablespoon(T)  chunky peanut butter
10 Ounce(oz)  coconut milk
1 Tablespoon(T)  dark soy sauce
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  chili powder
2 Teaspoon(t)  brown sugar
1/2 Teaspoon(t)  chili powder
1 Teaspoon(t)  turmeric, ground
1 Teaspoon(t)  coriander, ground
2 Teaspoon(t)  sesame oil
1 Tablespoon(T)  lime juice
1 Tablespoon(T)  dark soy sauce
2 Teaspoon(t)  brown sugar
1   fresh ginger root, 3/4 inch piece, finely grated
2 Clove(clv)  garlic, crushed
1 Pound(lb)  lean beef fillet


Cut the beef into 1/2 inch cubes and place in a large bowl.  Add the garlic, ginger, sugar, soy sauce, lime juice, sesame oil, coriander, turmeric and chili powder.  Mix well to coat the pieces of meat evenly.  Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight.  Preheat the broiler to high.  To make the peanut sauce, place all the ingredients in a small pan and stir over medium heat until boiling.  Remove the pan from the heat and keep warm.  Thread the beef cubes on to pre-soaked bamboo skewers.  Cook the skewers under the hot broiler for 3 to 5 minutes, turning frequently, until golden.  Alternatively, grill over hot coals.  Transfer to a large serving plate, then garnish with chopped cucumber and red bell pepper pieces and serve with the peanut sauce.
