If you don't have time to make your own pastry shell, use purchased refrigerated pie crust dough for this luscious dessert.

Ingredients

1   9 inch unbaked pastry shell
1 Cup(c)  walnuts, chopped
1 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla extract
1/2 Cup(c)  all purpose flour
1 1/2 Cup(c)  sugar
3   eggs, lightly beaten
3 Ounce(oz)  unsweetened chocolate, cut up
1/2 Cup(c)  butter

Preparation

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. For filling: In heavy, small saucepan, combine butter and chocolate. Melt over low heat, stirring frequently. Cool for 20 minutes. In large bowl, stir together eggs, sugar, flour and vanilla extract. Stir in cooled chocolate mixture and walnuts. Pour filling into pastry shell. Bake at 350 degrees F for 50 to 55 minutes, or until knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 1 hour on wire rack. Serve warm. Drizzle each slice with caramel topping and serve with ice cream, if desired.
