This is recipe was given to me by my Grandma and  I continue to make these delectable after all of these years.

1/4 Teaspoon(t)  salt
1/2 Cup(c)  dutch-process cocoa
1 Cup(c)  unbleached, all-purpose white flour
1/2 Cup(c)  sugar
1/2 Cup(c)  packed light brown sugar
5 1/2 Teaspoon(t)  vanilla extract
1   egg
2   egg whites
1/4 Cup(c)  buttermilk
2 Tablespoon(T)  vegetable oil
2 Tablespoon(T)  unsalted butter, melted


Put the rack in the center of the oven andpreheat to 350°F. Coat an 8x8-inch pan withnonstick spray.

Using an electric mixer at medium speed,beat the butter, oil, buttermilk, egg whites, egg,vanilla, and sugars until the sugar is dissolvedand the batter is smooth. (Medium speed willprevent air bubbles from forming.)

Sift the flour, cocoa, and salt into the bowl.

Using a rubberspatula, stir until all is moist and smooth.Pour into the baking pan and tap on the table toget rid of large air pockets in the batter.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the center ofthe brownies is firm to the touch.
